Backswing:

Hand Movement and Wrist Hinge

Description: Matt explains how to properly rotate and set your hands and wrists on the backswing.

Focus Points:

  • Don’t set your hands and wrist too early.  This could result in loss of tempo and feel.
  • At the halfway point of the backswing, the palm of your back hand should be facing directly away from you.
  • At the top of the swing you should try and make your hands and wrists as relaxed as possible.  It will feel like the club head is dropping and your wrists are hinging. This helps to create an additional power lever and will greatly increase your lag on the downswing.
